Woven Plaid Scarf: SU Aug 19, 1-5 pm

Learn to weave a plaid scarf or table runner.


This course will be an overview of planning a rigid heddle project in plaid, check or log cabin style color patterns. Participants will pick one of the types of color styles to warp and start weaving an 8” wide scarf or table runner in class.

One 4 hour class

Some previous weaving experience is required.

Skills Learned:

  • planning a plaid

  • planning a check style fabric

  • planning a Log Cabin Style fabric

  • joining yarn techniques

  • color and weave direct warping

  • planning finishing of project

  • using more than one shuttle

  • using more than one weight of yarn

  • selvedge techniques

Supplies Needed:

  • rigid heddle loom at least 8 inches in width

  • heddle for the yarn selected (8 or 10 dent)

  • two shuttles

  • scissors

  • two or more colors of worsted weight yarn totally 500 yards of length.

  • ruler and tape measure

  • tapestry needle

  • warping tools (warping peg, threading hook, winding paper, paper towel centers)

Class fees are not refundable unless the class is canceled by the shop. If cancellation is made outside of 72 hours of class start time, you will be provided with a store credit for use for any future purchase with the shop. Unless otherwise indicated, our classes are for adults only. Your registration is valid for the dates listed in the description and may not be transferred to other class dates.
